| Live the French
life-style with American-style comfort!
The Rue Cler Pierre Villey apartment is a spacious, sunny,
two-level 110 square meter (approximately 1210 square feet) duplex
apartment. It's located in the safest and most exclusive
area of Paris, the 7th arrondissement, between the Eiffel Tower, Ecole Militaire, Invalides and the Seine River. It comfortably
sleeps one to six people in two real beds and two convertible sofa beds.
Ideally situated on a quiet, dead-end cul-de-sac at the end of the
famous open market street, the Rue Cler, it's perfectly located
for families or friends or dog-owners who want to enjoy Paris in
casual comfort. It's size and location makes it ideal for
singles, for couples, for families, whether for a tourism visit or
live-work situation.
This light-filled duplex is located on the first and second
floors (U.S. second and third floors) of a small, quiet, modern
building with elevator, concierge and security system. The
street-side of the apartment features sliding glass doors that
open to planted terrace balconies on both levels. The
outdoor terraces are large enough for seating and perfect for
morning coffee, sunbathing or evening cocktails or dinner. There
are no nosy neighbors looking in windows from across the street as
the glass doors and balconies face a church with stained glass
windows.
Without a wide-angle lens it's hard to capture the space in the
apartment, but we hope you can get a good idea from the following
photos and description.
Entryway: The building is
protected by a digicode for the locked exterior door and a special
key-card and interphone system for the locked interior door.
There is also a building concierge. To get to the apartment
you can either take the elevator or walk up two flights of marble
stairs. The apartment door has three pick-proof locks for
those worried about security, although we find one simple lock is
sufficient. When you enter the apartment, a coat rack and
mirror is to your right, the kitchen is straight ahead and
the living area and stairwell are to your left. The entry-level
living area is upstairs while the bedrooms and bathroom are
downstairs. On both levels the far-side walls are sliding glass doors which open
to the full balcony terraces and look onto the church across the
street. The glass doors are equipped
with automatic metal shutters that can be lowered to shield the
apartment from sunlight.

The living room area is set up
for entertaining with the long bar from
which to serve drinks, the consoles which serve as side boards,
the glass low table, twin couches and armchairs. It's also
comfortable for listening to music, watching DVDs or TV. Included
in the rental fee are English and French language cable TV
channels, featuring French stations plus CNN, BBC, CNBC in English. The DVD player has been
"de-zoned" which means discs from Europe, the UK and the US can be
played in it. That means you can bring your own movie discs, or
rent them from a shop nearby.
Also included in the rental
fee is unlimited
wireless and broadband Internet access and free local and
international telephone calls to Western Europe, the US and
Canada. We also provide a mobile cell telephone handset for your use;
all you do is purchase time credits for it. Exceptionally, you can
even watch American TV shows in real-time, so no American needs to miss
their favourite sports game or TV show while living in Paris.
Access to American TimeWarner Cable TV programming is provided through the in-house
computer via a "Slingbox" in the
double bedroom downstairs.

straight off the entry
The
kitchen is fully equipped with everything an enthusiastic cook needs including spices and
staples. There's nothing nicer than picking up fresh meat,
fish, vegetables, cheese and wine from the Rue Cler market and
cooking up a memorable meal for oneself, family or friends in
one's own Paris home. The kitchen has a large
refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, electric stove and oven, coffee
maker, toaster, blenders, waffle maker, dishes and glassware,
complete silverware and cutlery, plus all the useful pots, pans, bakeware and gadgets a serious cook might need.
In addition, everything is set up so you can make wonderful
gourmet meals without having to buy every little thing you might
need a little of, like flour or salt or oil or pasta - the staples which
are provided are a real convenience for anyone. All we ask is
that you replace or reimburse the food and supplies you consume
using our "honor bar" system. There's also
a microwave if your idea of cooking is re-heating something from
one of the several fabulous delis down the street. Two people can
eat or drink at the high counter on stools. Just outside the kitchen door
there are fresh herb plants and an electric grill.
There is also a clothes washing machine in
the kitchen. (Go

There are two full
bedrooms downstairs. The one pictured above features a
king-size mattress, with dresser, night
tables, chair, lamps, hangers, mirrors, paintings and plenty of
built in closet space. The
Relyon-brand mattress is of the highest quality as are the
all-cotton sheets, down pillows and comforter. The bedroom is
painted a light blue. The king bedroom has sliding
glass doors which open onto the second balcony terrace and seating
area.

The double bedroom and office corner are egg-yolk yellow and white with colorful
furnishings in green, red, blue and yellow. It features a full double size bed with
high-quality mattress, all-cotton sheets, down comforter, and
both down or foam pillows, as you prefer. It is furnished with an armoire, night
tables, lamps, prints plus a corner office with desk, chair, PC
computer, printer, 21" monitor and
"Slingbox"
to watch U.S. cable TV shows on the monitor through the Internet.
There is also a small convertible couch to kick back on or which
can be used for sleeping by an extra child or friend. The double
bedroom has sliding glass doors which open onto the second balcony
terrace and seating area.

Without a wide-angle lens, we couldn't get a good photo of the
bathroom. It has a full-sized bath and shower combination, shower
curtain, pedestal sink, bidet, mirror, storage cupboards and
marble floors and walls. It was recently repainted, as well. The best thing about the bathroom
compared to most French apartments is that there is unlimited hot
water thanks to the building's big boiler. The bathroom is also
equipped with electric curlers, hair dryer and emergency medical
kit, as well as large and small towels, of course. The
modern toilet is in a separate adjacent room, which is common in
France and quite practical.
The downstairs area has plenty of extra built-in closet space,
space to dry clothes under the stairwell and shelves full of books
and guides to Paris. By choice we have no clothes dryer (to save
carbon emissions). Clothes usually dry quickly in a day or
overnight on their special free-standing hangers, but if you need speed or find
air-drying too funky, there's a Laundromat
within a three minute walk with hot and fast dryers.

the apartment shows the balconies and the small size of the
building.
The Rue Cler Pierre
Villey apartment building was built in the sixties, so it's much
better insulated from noise than most Paris apartments. It's
located on a dead-end street, across from a church, with a gated
plaza and trees just next door. Metered parking places and large
sidewalks line the street.
